Born in 1983, Ester Na is a producer, composer and instrumentalist from Vienna, Austria. Ester has professionally played cello and piano for the past nineteen years.
Ester began her classical studies on piano at the age of five and on cello at the age of eight. She soon was recognized for her exceptional musical ability on both instruments and was accepted into the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna at a very early age of 15.
Under the training of Valentin Erben (Cellist for the World reknown Alban Berg String Quartet) and Lilia Schulz-Bayrova (Internationally Acclaimed Cellist), Ester competed and won some of the highest classical cello competitions in Austria and Europe such as ‘Liezen International Cello Competition’, and ‘Prima La Musica Competition.’ She was invited to participate in several master classes and workshops at the ‘Kronberg Academy Cello Festival,’ where she performed for cello virtuoso – Young Chang Cho, and the late Mstislav Rostropovich.
Because of her versatility she has had countless performance and collaborative experiences with prestigious artists and venues at The Vienna Concert Hall, ‘Musikverein,’ where such as Johannes Brahms had performed, and ‘Konzerthaus Wien,’ where Beethoven’s ninth symphony and Richard Strauss “Festliches Praeludium op.61’ was performed.
Although Ester was a highly acclaimed and upcoming cello star in Vienna, she also had a passion for American Pop and RnB and pursued this interest by obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Piano at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in 2005 where she participated in a master class with Bobby McFerrin and performed across Europe with her own jazz combo “Take Tuke.”
Ester’s musical journey in popular music eventually led her to continue her studies at Berklee College of Music in 2012 where she majored in Contemporary Writing and Production and discovered her love for producing and arranging music. Throughout her studies at Berklee, Ester has had the privilege to study and collaborate with some of the world famous musicians, such as Vadim Neselovskyi (Gary Burton’s Piano Player), Bill Elliot (Disney’s composer and arranger), Lin Biviano (Frank Sinatra’s Jazz trumpeter) and many more.
Since coming to the United States, Ester has performed for Boston’s Governor Deval Patrick, LEDISI (R&B Grammy award winning vocalist), the Melrose Symphony Orchestra, multiple performances with Renese King (Grammy nominated gospel vocalist), performed with Terence Blanchard’s Orchestra and also was the arranger for China’s pop star, Khalil Foong, for China’s Idol TV show.
After graduating from Berklee, Ester moved to Los Angeles in the Fall of 2016, where she was recruited by Harvey Mason Jr. and began working full time at his studio. Harvey Mason Jr., is an eight time Grammy winning producer and has produced artists such as Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston. Under Harvey’s direction Ester has written and arranged music for the upcoming films “Pitch Perfect 3” and “Valley Girl” as well as writing music for Chris Brown, Aloe Blacc and Jennifer Hudson.
Ester will continue her work as a producer and wishes to focus on producing tracks for Pop and RnB artists in Los Angeles. Her exceptional abilities as a pianist and cellist provide her with the skills necessary to compose on the spot and quickly create exceptional tracks for Pop and RnB.
